SOME COMMON ISSUES AND HOW TO FIX

  1. Avoid reverse face. This will result in a see-through issue. Below is an example of a reverse face:

the gray color faces are reversed and we need to flip them.

and how it looks in RDesign app:

How to fix it:

Select all gray faces, right-click on them, and select Reverse face.

  1. Model mesh with a thickness:

With the sample room above even when we reverse faces, there is still another issue. Since it is a single-plane mesh lighting will go through the wall.

So instead of modeling a single-plane wall, ceiling, floor… we need to model them with thickness like in real life. At that time, the outer wall, ceiling, and floor will prevent sunlight from entering the room.

See the correct room below:

APPLY MATERIALS

Notes: Make sure to apply appropriate materials to the model. Avoid leaving it with the default white color, as the app will interpret it as a single material for the entire model or room. Instead, assign specific materials to elements like walls, floors, and ceilings to ensure proper differentiation.

In RDesign there is a big library for materials like wallpaper, wall paint, floor, tile, wood… so just apply basic materials in Sketchup and change them later in app.

HOW TO FIX SKETCHUP MODEL AND REIMPORT IN RDESIGN.

When we export Sketchup model to Datasmith and import to RDesign and we decorate the room then we find something wrong and need to fix in Sketchup and re-export and re-import. If we don’t save the room and reimport our decoration will be lost. Instead save the room first and re-import we will see a refresh button.

  • Save the room.

  • Close and re-open RDesign.

  • Re-import the fixing model and you will see the refresh button
